Many an exhausted mid-afternoon have we found ourselves halfway around Epcot’s World Showcase seeking air conditioning and a peaceful respite. For our family, nothing recharges the touring batteries better than a break on one of the benches tucked under the soaring dome of the American Adventure Rotunda. If we’re lucky, while waiting for the titular attraction to begin, we’ll be treated to a magnificent performance of “Shenandoah” by the a capella ensemble Voices of Liberty. The acoustics in the Rotunda are incredible.
The Voices have been an Epcot tradition spanning three decades. Why it took so long for them to share the love with California I’m not sure, but spring of 2012 Disneyland welcomed its own Voices chorus as a prelude to The Disneyland Story. Ostensibly the patriotic anthems performed by Voices were a natural fit for the segment of Story featuring Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. Alas, the run was short-lived; Voices of Liberty closed the following spring.
Location: Voices of Liberty perform multiple times daily in the rotunda of the American Adventure Pavilion, Epcot Theme Park, Walt Disney World Resort.
