Tour Tomorrowland in style on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover

I’m one of those Disney buffs who’s very sentimental about the WEDway Transit Authority – er – Tomorrowland Metroliner WEDMover – er – Authority of Tomorrowland People to Move – or whatever they’re calling it these days. I just plain adore the breezy tour of Tomorrowland that rarely has a line and gives you the chance to stretch out and relax. And affords sneak peeks into the various attraction show buildings: glimpses of the rockets ascending the lift hill onto Space Mountain, the diorama of Progress City, and space rangers battling an evil emperor.

So I took it pretty hard when the 2009 refurbishment included a brand new ride narration. I get it, the new version kind of harkens back to an earlier spiel (1985-1994) where the “Commuter Computer” introduced Tomorrowland’s attractions. That’s pretty cool, but I miss the subsequent narration and the feeling it gave you of traveling around a futuristic space port. (I know I’m not the only one who practically rioted when “Mr. Tom Morrow” ceased to be paged on the TTA because Disney hastily re-instated the line in 2010.)

I’m sure I’ll adapt to the newest name and narration with time. We always do. Just as long as the PeopleMover remains the signature transportation around Tomorrowland.

Location: Ride the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover around the Tomorrowland section of Magic Kingdom Park, Walt Disney World Resort.

Touring Tip: This is a great ride to feed/lull a baby to sleep!
